Skilled directors participated in the production of the series “Pachinko” – Pachinko Season 2 starring actors Yoon Yeo-jung and Kim Min-ha, raising expectations.
“Pachinko” is a story that begins with forbidden love and draws an unforgettable chronicle of war, peace, love and separation, victory and judgment between Korea, Japan, and the United States.
With “Pachinko,” which resonated with the world across borders and generations, coming as a new season, attention is focused on the director who caught the megaphone of season 2. Season 1 of “Pachinko,” which depicts the chronology of Korean immigrant families for four generations, from a small boarding house in Yeongdo, Busan in 1915 to bustling New York and booming Japan in 1989, was directed by Kogonada and former director Justin, who have different personalities, and has received favorable reviews from critics around the world, melting Korean sentiment in the global sense.
In Season 2 of “Pachinko,” which returns with a more expanded story and colorful characters, director Lian Wellham, director Jin Jun-rim, and director Lee Sang-il are directing, raising viewers’ expectations.
Episodes 1 and 2 of “Pachinko” Season 2 were directed by Lianne Welham, who captured the characters’ complex emotional lines to increase the immersion of the play. Director Jin Jun-rim, who received attention for winning the Silver Bear Award in the short film category at the Berlin International Film Festival and showed original production of each film, is expected to dramatically portray the story of “The Sonja” and her family, who will mark a turning point in Osaka in 1945.
Lastly, Korean-Japanese director Lee Sang-il, who swept the Japanese Academy Award with the film “The Evil,” will be directing episodes 6, 7, and 8, delicately portraying the confusion and identity of those who have rooted in unfamiliar lands, and delivering a deep afterthought to viewers around the world.
Season 2 of “Pachinko,” which received enthusiastic praise from critics and viewers around the world as the most Korean story, consists of a total of eight episodes and will release one episode every week on Apple TV+ until October 11 (Fri), starting with the release of the first episode on August 23 (Fri).
